Psychological Specialist for Veteran Services

Position Overview:
This role involves delivering a comprehensive range of psychological evaluations and therapeutic interventions tailored for women Veterans engaged in the VA's weight management initiative, as well as those facing general mental health challenges. The responsibilities align with the psychologist's expertise and the requirements of the Mental Health Care Line (MHCL).

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough, evidence-based psychotherapeutic sessions, which may include individual, family, and group therapy.
- Collaborate with the Section Chief or team leader to design, develop, and implement clinical programs for a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Ensure compliance with operational policies and procedures established by the relevant health authorities.

Professional Development:
- Facilitate workshops and seminars on validated psychological treatments, aimed at professionals across various medical disciplines.
- Provide supervision to psychology interns and trainees, guiding them in the identification and treatment of psychiatric and behavioral disorders through evidence-based methodologies.

Program Evaluation:
- Engage in program evaluation and performance enhancement initiatives to assess and improve psychological services and Veteran care delivery.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in applying advanced psychological theories and techniques across diverse patient demographics.
- Capable of offering professional guidance in psychological and behavioral health matters.
- Familiarity with current clinical assessment and psychotherapy research relevant to the specialty area.

Work Schedule:
Standard hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Telework eligibility is determined by agency guidelines.

Additional Information:
- Participation in mandatory health programs is required.
- Candidates must be U.S. citizens and proficient in English.

Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in psychology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an accredited professional psychology internship.
- A valid, unrestricted license to practice psychology.

Physical Requirements:
The role primarily involves sedentary work, with occasional requirements for walking, standing, and light lifting.
