Job Overview

The flagship location of Tandy Leather Factory serves as a vital representation of our brand and a testing ground for innovative concepts and community engagement initiatives. This store is expected to set the standard for excellence and creativity within our organization.

The Retail Store Director will play a pivotal role in conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and ensuring the success of this new retail format. This individual must embody the Tandy brand, serving as a key representative while enhancing our reputation within the leathercrafting community. The ideal candidate will be innovative, flexible, and eager to explore new ideas while possessing a deep understanding of Tandy's competitive advantages and long-term vision.

Expertise in leathercrafting is essential, as this position requires acting as a consultant to both novice and experienced leatherworkers. The Director must possess comprehensive knowledge of our product offerings and various leathercrafting techniques to effectively guide and inspire customers.

This role encompasses elevated responsibilities compared to a traditional store manager, including business development, team management, community engagement, and financial oversight. This is a salaried position with significant bonus potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Corporate Teams: Work alongside cross-functional teams to establish and execute a visionary approach for the flagship store.
  • Store Model Development: Oversee all facets of the new store model pilot, including:
    • Product selection, pricing strategies, and promotional events.
    • Store layout, visual merchandising, and fixture arrangements.
    • Operations of the Maker Workshop and related activities.
    • Fostering relationships with local organizations, influencers, and potential partners.
    • Planning and executing community events both in-store and externally.
    • Recruiting, training, and developing a high-performing team.
  • Model Optimization: Continuously refine and enhance the operational model for potential implementation in other flagship locations.

  • Extensive knowledge of leathercrafting techniques and materials.
  • Strong financial acumen to drive sales and manage profitability.
