Job Overview

The flagship location serves as a pivotal representation of our brand and a testing ground for innovative concepts, processes, and community engagement initiatives. This store is expected to lead the company in both creativity and operational excellence.

The Store Director plays a vital role in conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and ensuring the success of this new retail format. This individual must embody the Tandy brand, acting as a key representative and enhancing our reputation within the leathercrafting community. The Store Director should be imaginative, flexible, and open to experimentation while being well-versed in Tandy's competitive advantages and long-term vision.

Possessing extensive knowledge of various leathercrafting techniques is essential. This role transcends that of a typical store manager; it requires acting as a consultant to leatherworkers of all skill levels. The Store Director must be equipped to educate, guide, and inspire leathercrafters, fostering their passion for the craft.

This position entails greater responsibilities than those of a standard Tandy Store Manager. The Store Director will oversee business operations, recruit and develop staff, engage with the community, and manage financial performance. This is a salaried role with significant bonus potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Corporate Teams: Work alongside various corporate departments to establish and execute a fresh vision for the flagship store.
  • Manage Store Operations: Oversee all aspects of the new store model, including:
    • Product selection, pricing strategies, and promotional activities.
    • Store layout, visual merchandising, and overall design.
    • Operations of the Maker Workshop and related activities.
    • Build partnerships with local organizations and influencers.
    • Organize community events both inside and outside the store.
    • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Optimize Strategy: Continuously refine the operational model to enhance effectiveness and scalability for future flagship locations.

  • High level of initiative and accountability, capable of managing day-to-day operations with minimal oversight.
  • Exceptional professionalism and credibility to represent Tandy to diverse customers and partners.
  • Strong leadership skills for hiring, training, and developing a talented team.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of leathercrafting techniques and materials.
  • Solid financial acumen to drive sales and manage expenses effectively.
