Clinical Laboratory Scientist Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at the Defense Health Agency Civilian Corps in Falls Church, VA. As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results.
Key Responsibilities- Perform testing in a clinical laboratory setting, monitoring quality control and developing clinical laboratory policy or standard operating procedures.
- Ensure the transfer of patient results from point-of-care analyzers to the electronic health record.
- Modify quality control frequency schedules through the development of individual quality control plans based on the College of American Pathologists' standards.
- Oversee testing and proper documentation of quality control at moderate complexity point-of-care testing sites.
- Coordinate corrective action for proficiency testing survey deficiencies identified by CAP evaluations.
- Report any significant deviant data or irregular occurrences involving QC/QA issues.
- Manage site follow-up and completion of issued documents for leadership review.
- A Bachelor's or graduate degree from a regionally accredited college/university, including courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics.
- Successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
- At least a full 4-year course of study that included 12 months in a college or hospital-based medical technology program or medical technology school approved by a recognized accrediting organization.
- Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT), or other board or registry deemed comparable by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (OASD(HA)) or their designee as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS).
