Job Title: Category Manager

Join NorthShore University HealthSystem as a Category Manager and play a key role in driving supply chain excellence. As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for analyzing current practices, standardizing, improving, documenting, and supporting assigned categories throughout the lifecycle of Supply Chain initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze current practices, standardize, improve, document, and support assigned categories throughout the lifecycle of Supply Chain initiatives.
  • Lead Supply Chain Procurement initiatives, including product conversions, standardization, value analysis, and contract management.
  • Champion Supply Chain expense reduction initiatives throughout NorthShore.
  • Utilize and effectively apply contract law and category knowledge.
  • Participate in the development of short-term tactics and long-range plans to secure business and legal interests resulting in optimal administration and category management solutions.
  • Participate in negotiation, consultation on supplies, distribution agreements, awarding of agreements, and supplier performance.
  • Partner with key administrative, clinical, and physician leaders to develop, manage, analyze, and provide recommendations in regards to category-specific RFPs, contracts, bids, trials, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Analysts, clinical area analysts, and other areas to gather supporting data and summarize the results for Supply Chain initiatives.
  • Lead assigned Value Analysis Teams to provide proactive cost savings, standardization, product conversions, and onboarding new supplies, implants, devices, equipment, and services.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Certification: MBA, CMRP, CPSM preferred
  • 5+ years of Supply Chain experience
  • Expertise in the following areas within Healthcare Supply Chain: Vendor negotiation, value analysis, contract management, managing product conversions, project management, and product standardization.
  • Critical thinking, well-organized, detail-oriented, skilled at problem-solving, and high-level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with Group Purchasing Organizations (GPO), analyzing, negotiating, summarizing, and presenting complex agreements.
  • Ability to build relationships with clinical, administrative, and physician leadership.
  • Intermediate-level skills with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Adobe, and PDF.
  • Experience with Lawson system highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of legal principles and routine business terms.
