Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team at IDEX. As a key member of our Operations department, you will be responsible for enhancing our safety culture and developing and implementing environmental, health, and safety plans, programs, and procedures for our Wheeling facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with leaders and employees to promote a strong safety culture and develop and implement EHS plans, programs, and procedures.
  • Facilitate all day-to-day EHS program elements to ensure safety, compliance, and best practices.
  • Maintain existing internal and external EH&S compliance programs, including emergency action plans, LOTO, confined space entry, machine guarding, and powered industrial equipment.
  • Manage and coordinate safety committees and first responders for the site.
  • Ensure deployment and compliance of EHS policies and guidelines at the site.
  • Develop and present safety orientation and training to all employees, including onboarding, to ensure understanding of potential risks.
  • Update and maintain SDS data using IDEX & Risk management platform(s).
  • Champion and manage sustainability efforts related to industrial waste, recycling, consumption of gas/water/electricity, and related reporting.
  • Assist in representing management/site in matters of health and safety with external agencies and organizations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Engineering, Operations, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Manufacturing/Whitegoods/Diversified Industrial industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with safety responsibilities.
  • Understanding of OSHA standards and EH&S protocols.
  • Preferred experience includes knowledge of state and federal EH&S laws and regulations, safety certification, project management experience, RIE/Kaizen knowledge, proven experience with data analysis and risk assessment, and exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
