Job Description:

A Medical Assistant plays a vital role in providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This involves caring for patients with acute and chronic needs, performing general administrative and patient care tasks in accordance with the Intermountain MGPSMA Scope of Practice, and other established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greets and prepares patients for the healthcare provider while maintaining a positive and caring attitude.
  • Attentive to patients' needs, coordinates care, administers care, and documents appropriately.
  • Provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights by observing HIPAA regulations.
  • Obtains and records patient information, vital signs, height, weight, allergies, current medications, medical history, and chief complaint, etc.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Schedules patients for diagnostic testing and follow-up as appropriate to ensure completion of testing.
  • Communicates test results to patients and establishes a plan of care by phone or mail as directed by the Provider.
  • Documents patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by the provider.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Current BLS Certification is required upon hire or within 60 days of hire upon approval.
  • One (1) year Medical Assistant experience, including phlebotomy experience.
  • Successful completion of initial MA onboarding within 90 days, annual skills fair, and in-services for site-specific tasks is required.
  • Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.
  • Successful completion of an Accredited National Certification Exam for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is preferred.
Work Environment:

This position will be located at the Laurel Clinic – Family Medicine in Laurel, Montana. The scheduled weekly hours are 20 hours per week.
