Job Summary

Join SpaceX as a Principal Software Engineer, Combustion Modeling Expert, and contribute to the development of cutting-edge combustion simulation software. Collaborate with a talented team to design and implement advanced simulation tools that accelerate engine development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain high-performance combustion simulation software
  • Collaborate with combustion analysts and computer scientists to develop advanced simulation tools
  • Implement state-of-the-art features on multi-core and GPU hardware to extend simulation capabilities and improve performance
  • Support all aspects of software development as a member of a cross-functional team
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM discipline and 8+ years of professional experience in software development; OR 10+ years of professional experience in software development in lieu of a degree
  • 5+ years of software development experience in C++
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing combustion numerical methods
  • Experience developing concurrent applications (e.g. threading, MPI, CUDA)
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience working with a team on at least one large (>100,000 lines) software project
  • Experience with object-oriented software design and functional programming
  • Background in scientific computing, high-performance computing, or mathematics
  • Strong skills with debuggers, performance optimization, and unit testing
Additional Requirements
  • Willing to travel in support of launching and testing of hardware
  • Willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $200,000.00 per year, with potential for long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short & long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks.
