Senior Software Engineer Front End

At SpaceX, we are pushing the boundaries of space technology and exploration. As a Senior Software Engineer (Front End) on our team, you will play a critical role in shaping the user experience of our products and applications. Your expertise in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS will enable you to craft aesthetically and functionally flawless user interfaces that meet the needs of our engineers and contribute to the success of our space missions.

Responsibilities:
  • Craft User-Centric Interfaces: Design and develop user experiences that are intuitive, efficient, and meet the needs of our engineers.
  • Deliver High-Quality Code: Write expert-level JavaScript, HTML, and CSS code for modern browsers, ensuring seamless performance and functionality.
  • Collaborate with Engineers: Work closely with other engineers to plan and organize the development of our products, leveraging your technical expertise to drive innovation.
  • Influence Product Development: Use your technical expertise to influence how and what we build, ensuring that our products meet the needs of our engineers and contribute to the success of our space missions.
  • Execute User Research: Conduct user research and gather requirements for new and existing products, ensuring that our user experiences are informed by the needs of our engineers.
  • Manage Release Life Cycle: Oversee the release life cycle and feature roadmap of our products, ensuring that our software is delivered on time and meets the needs of our engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree: A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or science discipline, and 4+ years of experience in software development, or 6+ years of experience in software development.
  • Development Experience: 2+ years of experience delivering user-facing software products, with a strong background in JavaScript development.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Expert Knowledge: Expert knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with a strong understanding of user experience design principles.
  • Development Experience: Development experience in C++ or Python, with a strong understanding of the full web stack.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, with the ability to contribute to design sessions and drive innovation.

Additional Requirements:

  • Availability: Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Work Samples: Must provide work samples and/or link to portfolio.

  • Citizenship: To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
