WCF Insurance is seeking a highly skilled professional to join their team as a Data Scientist/Actuarial Modeler. This is a full-time, exempt position that offers remote or hybrid working arrangements in a dynamic and inclusive work environment.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have a variety of responsibilities that support WCF's overall pricing functions. These responsibilities include:
- Develop and Maintain Actuarial Models
- Design and implement advanced statistical and machine learning models for pricing and risk assessment.
- Analyze Complex Datasets
- Extract meaningful patterns and insights from large datasets to inform strategic business decisions.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams
- Work with actuaries, underwriters, and IT professionals to integrate data-driven solutions into business processes.
- Design and Conduct Experiments
- Develop and execute experiments to validate models and improve accuracy.
- Communicate Technical Findings
- Present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Stay Current with Industry Trends
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data science, actuarial science, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Advanced Education
- A Master's or PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a similar analytical field.
- Relevant Professional Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in actuarial modeling, pricing, statistical analysis, and/or data science roles within the P&C insurance industry.
- Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data manipulation and modeling.
- Actuarial Knowledge
- A solid understanding of actuarial principles and practices, including risk assessment and financial modeling.
- Analytical and Communication Skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
