Job Overview

WCF Insurance is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist/Actuarial Modeler to join their team in the Actuarial department. This is a full-time, exempt position that offers remote or hybrid working arrangements in the Sandy, Utah headquarters office.


Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain actuarial models for pricing and risk assessment using advanced statistical and machine learning methods.
  • Analyze datasets to extract meaningful patterns and insights that inform strategic business decisions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data-driven solutions into business processes.
  • Design experiments and conduct hypothesis testing to validate models and improve accuracy.
  • Communicate complex technical findings and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.

Requirements
  • Master's/PhD in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, or a similar analytical field.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in actuarial modeling, pricing, statistical analysis, and/or data science roles within the P&C insurance industry.
  • Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data manipulation and modeling.
  • Solid understanding of actuarial principles and practices, including risk assessment and financial modeling.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
