Key Responsibilities:
Core Duties:
Nursing Care and Client Interaction (40%)
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of veterinary medical practices.
- Deliver empathetic and high-quality patient care while adhering to Fear Free Guidelines.
- Exhibit proficiency in essential nursing skills, including venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and critical care.
- Utilize critical thinking and multitasking abilities effectively.
- Adapt priorities based on the needs of the hospital and patients.
- Handle and restrain animals safely for various medical procedures.
- Treat both animals and clients with dignity and respect.
- Clearly communicate the veterinarian's observations regarding an animal's condition to clients.
- Document and relay any patient concerns or changes to the veterinarian.
- Administer food and medication as per veterinarian and LVT instructions.
- Lift animals weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Maintain a safe and compassionate environment for all animals in our care.
- Represent the organization in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
- Provide management with feedback regarding training needs and departmental requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with other department managers and staff.
- Uphold organizational policies and protocols.
- Remain open to changes and willing to learn and implement new protocols.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of daily procedures and protocols.
- Ensure high standards of care and performance are consistently met.
- Work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
- Remain calm and efficient under pressure.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions regularly.
- Notify supervisors of any unsafe conditions or hazards.
- Clean and disinfect all areas, equipment, and facilities using appropriate safety measures.
- Adhere to all cleaning protocols and safety regulations.
- Maintain inventory and restock supplies as necessary.
- Ensure that all areas of the facility are kept clean and organized throughout the day.
- We seek candidates who demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively or independently, with integrity and accountability. This full-time position may require weekend availability and occasional overtime.
- Certification in Fear Free practices is required within a specified timeframe after hiring.
