This role is pivotal in supporting our members with their consumer lending and mortgage requirements.

The Mortgage Lending Specialist will play a crucial role in evaluating loan applications, making informed credit decisions in accordance with established lending protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts interviews with loan applicants to gather essential information regarding their lending needs, income, and financial status.
  • Evaluates loan applications, analyzing the financial situation of members to assess the risk associated with extending credit. This includes making decisions on approvals, denials, or counter offers.
  • Maintains clear and effective communication with applicants throughout the loan processing journey.
  • Engages in promoting CUNA Mutual Groups' Debt Protection offerings to our members.
  • Prepares, organizes, and delivers loan documentation to applicants.
  • Manages loan officer queues to ensure timely and accurate processing of loan applications.
  • Aims to meet and uphold monthly performance targets established by the VP of Lending.
  • Adheres to all Credit Union policies and procedures consistently.
  • Performs additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in a Loan Processing, Loan Officer, or a related capacity is essential.
  • A 2-year college degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Experience within a credit union environment is advantageous.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Willingness to undergo and successfully complete a criminal background check.
  • Willingness to undergo and successfully complete a credit check.
  • Must be bondable.
