Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented School Secretary III/Bookkeeper to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will provide critical support to our administrators and ensure the smooth operation of our office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform various clerical, secretarial, and office support tasks for administrators
  • Create letters, forms, and other associated documents
  • Type routine and complex documents, reports, forms, and correspondence
  • Manage files, inventories, and other records
  • Assist with administrative and student-related activities, such as registration, calling absentees, and preparing reports
  • Operate office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and scanners
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive data and information
Requirements
  • Ability to work an eight-hour day and overtime as requested
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work independently with or without supervision
  • Knowledge of safety rules in the workplace
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and perform effectively as a team member
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Stoop, bend, twist, turn, and reach on a regular basis
  • Adequate strength, dexterity, and ability to perform all tasks assigned
