GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Under the guidance of the designated site leader, and in accordance with established protocols, the Mammography Technologist is responsible for conducting precise and efficient mammography examinations using the appropriate imaging technology, exercising independent judgment, creativity, and initiative.

Technologists are expected to exhibit strong clinical competencies and deliver optimal images for diagnostic interpretation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts high-quality mammography examinations following verification of patient identity, physician directives, and accurate exam charges in the electronic health record system. Demonstrates proficiency in operating mammography imaging devices.

Ensures the acquisition of superior quality images by employing suitable techniques for patient positioning during screening, tomographic, diagnostic, and invasive mammography procedures.

Monitors patients throughout the procedures to guarantee their safety. Engages in ongoing professional development in line with ARRT standards.

Possesses knowledge of hospital computer systems for billing, scheduling, and PACS for efficient information transmission.

Communicates effectively within and across departments with administrative personnel, medical staff, and colleagues. Responsible for cleaning and restocking examination rooms and supply areas, while maintaining departmental cleanliness.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education / Training:
Graduate of a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited radiography program.

Work Experience:
1-3 years of experience beyond the staff radiographer level is preferred.

Certification, Licensure, Registration:
Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); additional Mammography (ARRT)(M) certification is required within one year of employment.

Other Qualifications:

Basic Life Support Certification for Healthcare Providers at hire through the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross.
