UF Health is seeking a highly skilled Risk Management RN to support the Director of the Office of Risk Management in identifying and investigating incidents involving risk of harm to patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for reporting incidents to regulatory agencies, developing and implementing programs to improve patient and visitor safety, and ensuring risk management programs are initiated effectively and meet the needs of the hospital.
Key Responsibilities- Collects, reports, analyzes, and applies data on patient incidents utilizing the incident event reporting system.
- Serves as the system administrator for the Incident Reporting system and software program.
- Monitors the Incident Reporting system on a daily basis and investigates and responds to adverse incidents and events as appropriate.
- Facilitates analyses of adverse events, participates in development of action plans, and monitors implementation of action plans.
- Utilizes acquired knowledge from analyses, investigations, and root cause analyses to recommend process improvements in patient safety and quality initiatives.
- Ensures compliance with organizational-wide risk management program regarding statutory mandates, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards of professional organizations.
- Serves as a point of contact and interfaces with other hospital departments, government agencies, and healthcare organizations regarding incidents and patient safety programs.
- Collaborates with, supports, and shares pertinent information with members of the healthcare team regarding the risk management, patient safety, quality management, legal, compliance, and related programs.
- Advises, instructs, and educates management and staff in regard to regulatory and patient safety issues and regulatory requirements.
- Assists in the development and implementation of plans and preparations for organizational disaster preparedness and recovery.
- Required experience: 5 years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Preferred experience: Minimum of two years' experience working in healthcare risk management, patient safety, quality management, or patient engagement is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge or familiarity with Florida State (i.e. AHCA), Federal, and Joint Commission statutes, regulations, standards, and guidelines.
- CPHQ or CPPS or willingness to earn the CPHQ or CPPS Certification per the specified years of practice and education required for the national certification chosen within 6 months of meeting the certification criteria as part of annual growth goals.
