Job Opportunity: Q'anjob'al Linguist for Refugee Support

Mission Essential is seeking a highly skilled Q'anjob'al linguist to provide translation and interpretation services for refugee support to unaccompanied minors. This is an on-call/part-time position that requires flexibility and a willingness to travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Translate information to and for care staff and other individuals as needed
  • Provide in-person interpretation at Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) programs and service sites
  • Offer remote telephonic and/or video interpretation for ORR programs and service sites
  • Assist in orienting unaccompanied minors to community resources
  • Translate documents from English into Q'anjob'al and vice versa as requested

Requirements:

  • Working proficiency in English and Q'anjob'al (ILR level 2+)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Pass a Tier 2 background check

Benefits:

  • Competitive hourly rate of $80
