VCA Animal Hospitals is seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Veterinary Technician to oversee our Surgical Services Department. This role is ideal for a technician who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about anesthesia and surgical care.
Key Responsibilities:
As the leader of the Surgery/Anesthesia team, you will be responsible for:
- Conducting comprehensive pre-operative anesthesia assessments.
- Calculating and administering appropriate drug dosages.
- Ensuring the secure intubation and maintenance of patient airways.
- Monitoring anesthesia levels using various techniques and equipment.
- Performing venous catheterization and assisting with advanced procedures.
- Interpreting vital physiological parameters and making necessary interventions.
- Managing post-operative recovery and pain assessment.
- Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- A valid Registered Veterinary Technician license.
- Experience in companion animal anesthesia and surgical procedures.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
- The ability to adapt and learn new techniques quickly.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time position with a Monday to Thursday schedule, featuring 4/10 hour shifts.
Compensation:
The starting pay for this role ranges from $38 to $43 per hour, commensurate with experience and licensure.
