The Float Pool at Indian River Hospital caters to a diverse array of patient populations across various units and departments. As a Registered Nurse (RN), your primary responsibilities will include delivering direct nursing care, executing and overseeing patient care plans, administering medications and treatments, evaluating and coordinating discharge plans, and diligently monitoring and communicating patients' conditions.

In this role, you will work three 12-hour shifts weekly, from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal candidate include:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • A minimum of one year of recent acute care RN experience in a hospital environment.
  • Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire.
  • Possess critical thinking abilities, decisive judgment, and the capacity to work independently.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • New graduate nurses or those with less than one year of acute care RN experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with both medical and telemetry patients.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • NIHSS Certification.
  • Completion of the ONS Chemo/Bio course within two years of hire if working in units administering chemotherapy.
  • ACLS certification upon hire or within one year for those in Adult/Combined Emergency Departments.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification upon hire or within one year for those in Emergency Departments.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification upon hire or within 24 months for those in Dedicated Trauma Centers.

Physical requirements include:

  • Full range of body motion, including the ability to handle and lift patients, along with manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges.
  • Capacity to work under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids.
  • Medium Work - requiring exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Adhere to standard precautions using personal protective equipment as necessary.
