Serves as a key member of the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) aviation safety team, responsible for ensuring the safe operation of aircraft and the compliance of air carriers and operators with FAA regulations. The Aviation Safety Inspector will conduct inspections, investigations, and enforcement activities to identify and address safety risks and non-compliance issues.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct inspections and investigations of air carriers and operators to identify safety risks and non-compliance issues
- Enforce FAA regulations and policies related to aviation safety
- Develop and implement safety programs and initiatives to improve aviation safety
- Collaborate with other FAA teams and stakeholders to share best practices and address safety concerns
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to air carriers and operators on aviation safety matters
- Valid, unexpired Flight Instructor Certificate with single and multi-engine airplane and instrument airplane ratings
- Valid second-class FAA medical certificate
- Minimum of 1,500 total flight hours
- Minimum of 100 flight hours within the last 3 years
- Not more than 2 flying accidents in the last 5 years in which the applicant's pilot error was involved
The Aviation Safety Inspector will work in a fast-paced environment, often under tight deadlines, to ensure the safe operation of aircraft and the compliance of air carriers and operators with FAA regulations. The position requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
