About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at American Water. As a key member of our Information Technology organization, you will play a critical role in shaping and driving business performance and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the monthly financial reporting process, including variance analysis and management reporting.
  • Collaborate with IT business leaders to understand key business drivers and operational metrics, and deliver effective analysis of results.
  • Assist in the preparation of IT annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  • Develop and maintain financial models for all IT business units, analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Continuously improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports to all levels of management, as needed, to support decision-making.
Requirements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships within finance and with all levels of management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (USGAAP).
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • SAP and Hyperion experience preferred.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a closely related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced degree or CPA, CMA, or CFA preferred.
  • 3+ years of accounting/FP&A related experience required.
  • Regulated utility experience preferred.
