Job Overview

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Mathematics Teacher to join our team at The SEED Public Charter School of Washington D.C. The successful candidate will provide instruction in Algebra I through Pre-calculus, promoting student progress through High School Math standards and preparing them for college-level coursework.

About the Role

The Math Teacher will create an engaging learning environment that fosters active student participation, balanced with conceptual understanding and procedural skills. Essential duties include lesson planning, assessment, instruction, monitoring, and reporting student progress. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, technology expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes academic excellence.
  • Promote and support a program based on standards mastery, with regular assessments and progress reports.
  • Plan, deliver, and assess lessons for assigned areas of responsibility, submitting plans to the principal as required.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, administrators, parents, and students, maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Collaborate with peers to design curriculum, common assessments, and professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records, submit progress reports, and provide final grades to administration.
  • Participate in school-sponsored activities, staff development programs, and data analysis to support the School Improvement Plan.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
  • Praxis II passing score required in the content area.
  • Master's in a related field and/or prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of K-12 teaching standards and frameworks.
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion, with exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
