Job SummaryMaterial Handling Inc. is in search of a skilled Shop Service Technician. The technician may be tasked with various responsibilities based on the specific location and assignment. The nature of this position may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate emergency repairs or routine service as needed. Please note that this job description does not encompass all duties and responsibilities associated with the role, and management may assign additional tasks as necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with safety standards and maintain a secure working environment.
- Safely operate forklifts and related machinery within the shop.
- Conduct repairs, servicing, and assembly of industrial machinery.
- Diagnose equipment issues and determine necessary repair actions.
- Perform inspections of equipment as required.
- Communicate shortages and malfunctions to the Service Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of time, parts, and supplies utilized.
- Address customer inquiries professionally and objectively.
- Provide mentorship to trainees or helpers when necessary.
- Efficiently disassemble and inspect equipment for timely repair scheduling.
- Complete assigned service tasks and prepare necessary documentation.
- Report additional work needed for equipment safety and operation.
- Participate in service training initiatives.
- Keep the work area clean and organized.
- Notify management of any tools, equipment, or vehicles requiring maintenance.
- Represent the dealership with professionalism at all times.
- Operate vehicles and equipment with care and attention.
- Adhere to safety policies established by MHI and client requirements.
- Possess a valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrate knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance and operation.
- Exhibit proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- Forklift Certification is a plus.
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent time management and self-motivation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and follow instructions.
- Basic mathematical skills for calculations.
- Quick learner with a creative problem-solving approach.
- Minimal overnight travel (less than 5%) for training purposes.
- Ability to utilize basic technology and software effectively.
- Service shop setting with exposure to varying environmental conditions.
- Proximity to moving mechanical parts.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment is required.
- Full range of motion is necessary for various tasks.
- Ability to lift loads exceeding 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities are required.
- Moderate noise levels may be present.
