Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise dockworkers and yard employees in their daily tasks and ensure work completion.
  • Train new hires in dock and yard operations.
  • Provide performance feedback and counsel employees as needed.
  • Recommend disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Inspect and manage all material handling equipment.
  • Plan staffing based on workload and expected arrivals.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings before shifts.
  • Perform daily inventory checks of trailers, seals, and temperatures.
  • Oversee the unloading, storing, staging, checking, tagging, handling, and loading of freight.
  • Monitor the temperature and cleanliness of the warehouse and ensure proper functioning of equipment.
  • Lead the coordination of workflow in the warehouse, focusing on safety, sanitation, cost control, productivity, accuracy, teamwork, and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with management and customer service to meet all operational requirements promptly and professionally.
  • Foster strong working relationships within the FFE team to enhance performance.
  • Assist in developing operational systems by assessing product handling and storage needs.
  • Ensure accuracy in all incoming and outgoing shipments and complete necessary inspection paperwork.
  • Verify that all products and packaging meet specifications and are properly labeled.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications/Skills:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (College Degree Preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in LTL transportation or dock operations.
  • Flexibility to work any shift, including weekends.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with AS400 is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving abilities within established guidelines.
  • Ability to work under detailed instructions.
  • Compliance with company policies and procedures is essential.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Experience operating warehouse equipment.
