This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Radiation Therapist at Guthrie. As a key member of our radiation oncology department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our cancer treatment programs.

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Radiation Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering therapeutic doses of radiation to patients undergoing cancer treatment, as prescribed by physicians. You will also assist with the simulation and planning of radiation therapy treatments, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, simulate, and deliver prescribed courses of radiation therapy to patients.
  2. Check and maintain beam direction devices, protective devices, and heavy equipment, and keep records under the supervision of a physicist.
  3. Perform daily warm-up and quality assurance procedures on linear accelerators, reporting any deviations to the physicist.
  4. Assist with high-dose rate afterloading procedures.
  5. Schedule treatment appointment times and SIM check in EMR, and submit charge tickets.
  6. Verify patient prescriptions, diagnoses, charts, and identification before treatment.
  7. Deliver prescribed doses of radiation and maintain accurate daily records.
  8. Maintain visual and audible communication with patients during treatment and simulation.
  9. Identify changes in patient treatment setups and report to physicians and physicists as needed.
  10. Apply permanent and temporary markings as required.
  11. Observe patient clinical progress and report any complications or concerns to physicians.
  12. Set up simulator rooms for procedures, take localization films, and assist with treatments.
  13. Explain procedures to patients, including means of communication during treatment and emergency procedures.
  14. Maintain accurate records and quality measures in radiation therapy records.
  15. Record statistical data, including weekly and monthly statistics.
  16. Ensure compliance with radiation safety regulations and detect any radiation hazards.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with additional skills training and certification.
  • Two years of experience in radiation therapy, with certification as a Radiation Technologist (ARRT).
  • Minimum of six months of experience in a radiation therapy setting.

Salary: $35.15 - $55.67 per hour.
