Job Overview

Leonard Aluminum Utility Buildings, a leading manufacturer and distributor established in the Blue Ridge foothills of North Carolina, is seeking a dedicated Installation Technician. Our extensive product range includes storage solutions, trailers, and various automotive accessories, serving a diverse clientele across multiple states.

Position Summary:

The Installation Technician plays a crucial role in the installation of a variety of aftermarket automotive components. This position involves direct reporting to the Store Manager and does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install aftermarket automotive components and accessories on customer vehicles according to specified guidelines, including bed liners, running boards, and toolboxes.
  • Conduct thorough pre- and post-installation quality assessments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Mount and balance wheels and tires, ensuring proper alignment.
  • Install advanced lighting systems, enhancing vehicle visibility.
  • Troubleshoot installation-related issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Connect and wire electronic systems, including backup cameras and GPS devices.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues as needed.
  • Fabricate custom components for unique installation requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve installation targets.
  • Modify vehicles based on customer specifications and preferences.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by offering advice on accessory selection and installation methods.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for customer and company records, including parts used and labor hours.
  • Complete detailed work orders and invoices for clients.
  • Stay informed about the latest installation techniques and industry trends.
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment by organizing the workspace and maintaining tools.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure functionality.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a secure work environment.
  • Safely operate vehicles during testing and installation procedures.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a drug test and background check.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • In-depth knowledge of aftermarket truck accessories.
  • Experience with spray-in bed liners is preferred.
  • Excellent driving record, if applicable.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proven reliability and integrity.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and automotive equipment.
  • Solid understanding of automotive components and their functions.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Vocational training or apprenticeship certification is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record, if applicable.
  • Experience in automotive parts installation or a similar role is essential.
  • Experience in paint and bodywork is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy items, up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical stamina for prolonged standing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity for precise installations.
  • Good vision and depth perception for vehicle operation.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
