Charlotte, North Carolina, United States Atrium Health Full time

Position Overview

The Pediatric Surgical Nurse plays a vital role in the PreScreen Clinic, where phone assessments are conducted for young patients scheduled for procedures requiring anesthesia. Collaborating closely with anesthesiologists, the nurse ensures comprehensive evaluations are performed, addressing any safety concerns ahead of surgical dates. This position is crucial for coordinating care among various specialists for pediatric patients facing medical or social complexities, necessitating exceptional investigative and analytical skills.

In addition to phone assessments, the clinic also accommodates in-person visits for pediatric patients needing laboratory tests and diagnostic evaluations prior to surgery. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, and candidates should possess a minimum of two years of pediatric nursing experience or direct involvement in pre-anesthesia evaluations. Please note that this role is not suitable for recent graduates.

Professional Development

At Atrium Health, Registered Nurses have the opportunity to advance their careers through the Clinical Nurse Credentialing Pathway (CNCP), which recognizes nurses for their commitment to professional growth through education, certifications, and active engagement.
