Mental Health Cooperative - Crisis Counselor (Child & Youth)

We are seeking a skilled Crisis Counselor to join our team, providing face-to-face and telephone crisis intervention services to individuals experiencing a mental health emergency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct crisis assessments and provide crisis intervention services to address the needs of consumers experiencing a psychiatric emergency.
  • Assess for the least restrictive alternative to meet the needs of consumers experiencing a psychiatric emergency.
  • Make referrals to facilities equipped to meet the needs of consumers when hospitalization is necessary.
  • Actively participate in consult processes with supervisory staff when dispositioning cases.
  • Provide follow-up services as indicated in policies and procedures.
  • Develop individualized plans to meet the needs of consumers in crisis.
  • Respond to requests for face-to-face assessments in a timely manner.
  • Maintain customer service skills at all times.
  • Assist Triage Counselors in answering and dispositioning incoming calls as needed.
  • Provide telephone counseling when needed.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and complete documentation within departmental guidelines.
  • Coordinate services with care management teams and provide consultation as needed.
  • Assist community agencies with information and/or dispositions.
  • Educate community agencies on crisis services as directed by supervisory staff.
  • Assist teammates as needed.
Requirements:
  • A mental health professional with specialized training in crisis intervention and a minimum of a Master's degree in a related field (counseling, psychology, or social work).
  • A valid Tennessee Driver's License.
  • An acceptable Criminal Background Investigation.
  • Personal Automobile Insurance.
  • A cell phone.
