Child Care Substitute Attendant

Salary: $19-$27.25
Qualifications:
- Must have completed high school education
- Minimum age requirement: 18 years
- *Willingness to pursue the ECE Initial Certificate is essential; candidates with the certificate are preferred*
- Current CPR and First Aid certification required
- Completion of a 30-hour Child Care Basics course prior to employment
- At least one year of experience working with children under three years old
Role Description:
This role is vital within a drop-in child care environment dedicated to supporting the children of veterans, allowing them to attend necessary appointments. The age range of children in care extends from 6 weeks to 12 years, and up to 18 years for those with disabilities. The childcare substitute will assist in the VA Kids Care Program, ensuring adherence to all regulations and operational procedures while maintaining a safe and engaging atmosphere for the children.
The responsibilities include:
- Managing the check-in and check-out process for children
- Adhering to state-mandated child care ratios
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of children, including awareness of allergies, diaper changes, basic first aid, and developmentally appropriate engagement practices
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the facility
- Following all safety protocols and ensuring confidentiality
Work Hours: 0-40 hours per week.
- Availability to work between 7:15 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, to cover for staff absences. Approximately 1387 hours annually (averaging 26 hours weekly).
- No weekend or holiday shifts required.
