Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Warehouse Operations Superintendent to join our team in Anchorage, Alaska. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, monitoring, and maintaining a safe working environment, fostering a positive work atmosphere, and leading a team of warehouse personnel to achieve departmental KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement safety programs to ensure a safe working environment
  • Foster a positive work atmosphere and create a culture of motivated and productive employees
  • Lead, coach, and supervise warehouse personnel to attain departmental KPIs
  • Manage daily warehouse operations to service the needs of retail stores within departmental budget
  • Communicate effectively with employees and hold them accountable
  • Stay informed of Federal, State, and Municipal regulations, as well as company and CBA work rules regarding operations
  • Work closely with Warehouse Supervisors, hourly associates, dispatch, drivers, Division DCs, and retail personnel
  • Determine equipment and manpower requirements for daily operational needs
  • Maintain a high level of customer service
  • Hire and develop warehouse staff and team members towards attainment of their potential
  • Assist with capital projects and quarterly budgeting
  • Coordinate transportation operations within the DC
  • Foster supportive and communicative relationships with Retail Partners and the Distribution Center
  • Responsible for profit and loss of warehouse and transportation department
  • Ensure all employees and equipment are in regulatory compliance

Requirements:

  • Previous union experience preferred
  • 4-year college degree in logistics or business preferred
  • 4+ years supervision experience in a warehouse/transportation environment
  • Knowledge of transportation-related software, including routing optimization software, truck on-board computer software, and dispatch software
  • Knowledge and experience operating within the guidelines of DOT, OSHA, Health Department, and other regulatory agencies
  • Proven track record of cost reductions and increased productivity
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems
  • Able to work with warehouse supervisors to improve supervisory and teamwork skills
  • Well-developed analytical and computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to empower, supervise, and direct a diverse workforce
  • Ability to hire, develop, evaluate, train, and coach staff and associates
  • Strong communication skills and ability to build direct relationships with hourly associates
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility
  • Experience in holding employees accountable for working safely and providing a safe work environment
  • Proven ability to do financial analysis, review, and analyze existing cost data
  • Strong interpersonal and team-building skills
  • Excellent customer service focus and results-oriented
  • Must be comfortable giving and receiving open feedback
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays required
