We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg Supervisor to join our team. As a Supervisor, you will be responsible for facilitating optimal utilization of nursing staff, providing administrative/clinical supervision and consultation, and promoting problem-solving approaches for conflict resolution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising nursing staff (RN and MHS staff) in their day-to-day duties on behalf of Nursing Leadership
  • Providing support during medical and psychiatric emergencies and assisting with debrief activities
  • Coordinating and facilitating night shift admissions or transfers to emergency departments, following Admissions department processes
  • Performing administrative duties, including assisting with staffing (e.g. unplanned absences and schedule issues) for the next shift or for the following day
  • Completing documentation for necessary forms
  • Triaging and expediting issues of concern to the Administrator on Call
  • Providing an on-site clinical leadership presence for troubleshooting issues that may arise
  • Collaborating with patients and nursing staff to ensure quality of care
  • Communicating information to relevant departments, including Intake
  • Providing nursing staff with clinical instruction or guidance, when required
  • Assisting with orientation of new night staff
  • Ensuring policies and procedures for patient care are in compliance
  • Maintaining standards required by regulatory and accrediting bodies
  • Facilitating resolution of questions and issues relating to departmental operations
  • Providing on-site supervision, in the absence of the Nursing Director or Manager
  • Interfaces collaboratively with adjunct services and departments
  • Communicates in a timely manner to relevant personnel on other shifts
  • Procures supplies, equipment or medications, as needed
  • Assists with rapid covid testing, as needed

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Master's degree in psychiatric nursing or BSN degree
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • MSN – 18 months experience in psychiatric inpatient setting
  • BSN – 3 years experience in a psychiatric setting
