Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and maintain safe working conditions for all personnel, implement environmental protection strategies, and provide compliance methodologies based on industry standards to achieve EHS objectives.
  • Conduct investigations into incidents related to EHS, loss control, and insurance risks.
  • Design and implement cost-effective EHS programs that comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Act as the site lead for ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, assisting with goals, objectives, and routine audits.
  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of equipment and materials, including safety measures, hazardous materials, and pollution control.
  • Perform industrial hygiene assessments such as noise and air sampling.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and management on various EHS matters.
  • Assist in risk management initiatives and business continuity planning.
  • Lead the Employee Safety Committee and mentor colleagues on EHS awareness.
  • Collaborate with local authorities on fire protection and permitting issues.
  • Ensure training for the Medical First Responder Team is completed.
  • Manage safety data sheets and HAZCOM programs.
  • Review safety of new or modified equipment and facility projects.
  • Maintain organized records for compliance and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous waste programs and prepare regulatory reports.
  • Participate in emergency response actions and lead the Spill Response Team.
  • Coordinate with vendors on EHS issues and contractor safety.
  • Stay updated on local and state regulations affecting the facility and develop compliance programs accordingly.
  • Attend training and seminars to enhance EHS knowledge.
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs to ensure employee understanding of regulations.
  • Prepare cost estimates and purchase orders for EHS projects.
  • Support customer inquiries regarding product safety and compliance.
  • Manage environmental and safety permits for facility processes.
  • Conduct inspections and prepare reports related to stormwater and SPCC.
  • Perform administrative tasks related to EHS reporting.
  • Report hazardous conditions to supervisors promptly.
  • Uphold safety guidelines and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Work independently and with attention to detail.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA regulations, with experience in industrial processes.
  • Strong understanding of safety inspections, machine safety, and various EHS reporting requirements.
  • Familiarity with environmental management systems and ISO 14001.
  • Knowledge of EPA programs and experience with hazardous waste management.
  • Proficiency in EHS reporting such as OSHA logs and environmental discharges.
  • Understanding of corrective action processes and engineering drawings.
  • Experience in loss control and worker's compensation.
  • Lean & Six Sigma experience is a plus.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical EHS field such as Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety, or Industrial Hygiene.
  • At least 7 years of experience in environmental and safety roles, preferably in aerospace or manufacturing.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents and safety regulations.

Certifications:
  • ASP/CSP, IHIT/CIH, and other relevant certifications are highly desirable.
  • Relevant OSHA certifications and First Responder qualifications are a plus.
