Job Summary

This is an OPS position for $24 an hour.

The State of Florida Department of Transportation is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Operations Laborer. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing support in the staging of all SunTrax events, setting up and breaking down meeting space configurations, relocating furniture and equipment, and maintaining a high level of cleanliness of all facilities, equipment, and property.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide necessary support as needed and as directed in the staging of all SunTrax events.
  2. Set-up/breakdown of meeting space configurations with tables, chairs, and staging.
  3. Relocate furniture and equipment from the building as requested.
  4. Maintain a high level of cleanliness of all facilities, equipment, and property as directed and as scheduled.
  5. Operate, maintain, and utilize various SunTrax testing systems, providing support as directed and as needed.
  6. Provide set-up and staging of various safety signage, traffic cone configurations, and other safety precautions as directed and as necessary for the highway speed oval and other areas of the SunTrax campus testing tracks.
  7. Inspect and maintain all test tracks free of debris, and promptly report all track safety hazards.
  8. Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, equipment, and other miscellaneous items as directed.
  9. Maintain and operate all utility vehicles in good working and clean condition.
  10. Perform routine maintenance of grounds areas ensuring a clean appearance, including removal of litter and debris from in and around the property and properly disposing of it.
  11. Operate turbine blower to clear gravel and debris from the highway speed oval and other areas of the property as directed and as needed.
  12. Perform grounds maintenance as directed and as needed utilizing a utility vehicle equipped with an agricultural sprayer to assist with weed control throughout the property.
  13. Operate a pressure washer for cleaning various areas of the facility.
  14. Perform small equipment maintenance and service as directed and required to ensure optimal function for use.
  15. Ensure all State motor vehicle maintenance is performed as scheduled and as required, transporting them to the district maintenance yard as required and as necessary.
  16. Maintain the cleanliness of all State vehicles at the facility, this includes routine cleaning of the outside and inside of the vehicles.
  17. Maintain storage, equipment, and mechanical rooms in a neat, clean, and organized manner at all times.
  18. Maintain an accurate inventory of maintenance equipment, tools, and supplies.
  19. Assist with the shipping and receiving of equipment and materials, including the receiving, set up, breakdown, and transporting of rented items as needed.
  20. Provide support as needed for various work groups based on projects when directed and as necessary to support the operations of the organization.
  21. Provide support as directed and as necessary for outsourced services, repairs, replacements, and maintenance performed by contracted vendors.
  22. Ensure work performed, by self and others comply with all safety standards applicable to the work being performed which may include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), State Fire Marshal, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), and other local and state codes, rules, and regulations.
  23. Identify and report all service and safety deficiencies promptly that need correcting. Immediately stop all unsafe work from being performed ensuring the work environment and the work being performed are safe.
Requirements

This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department's Drivers Record Requirements Policy.

The Department may require occasional weekend and/or evening work hours.
