About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Crisis Counselor to join our Ventura Mobile Response Team at Seneca Family of Agencies. As a Crisis Counselor, you will play a critical role in providing crisis support, structure, mentoring, and coaching to youth in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist clinicians in the intake process, including assessment and creating a welcoming environment for youth.
  • Intervene in youth behavior as needed, providing stabilization services.
  • Work in coordination with parents and/or social workers as treatment team members, including assisting social workers in preparing Care Plans.
  • Engage youth in therapeutic activities and projects.
  • Complete daily progress notes and quarterly summaries.
  • Provide supervision for visits with family when necessary.
  • Participate in weekly supervision with the supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and paperwork, including mental health notes, time sheets, petty cash, and mileage.
  • Provide on-call response as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques as per Seneca's crisis response training.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and insurability through Seneca Family of Agencies' insurance policy.
  • Proof of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience working with children/youth and families with complex and enduring needs.
