Job Summary

Beach Cities Learning is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavior Interventionist to join our team of dedicated professionals. As a Behavior Interventionist, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and behavioral needs of students with Autism and/or students on the Autism Spectrum.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students, monitoring their ability to follow directions and exhibit positive behavior.
  • Ride in school vans to transport students to and from school, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collect and maintain data on student progress, working closely with licensed staff to identify areas for improvement.
  • Reinforce academic behaviors taught by licensed staff, providing students with opportunities to practice and reinforce new skills.
  • Assist students in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities, promoting socialization and skill development.
  • Implement district-approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint, such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.
Requirements
  • College degree preferred
  • 1-2 years' experience working with children in a special needs education setting
  • Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring, and direction from peers and supervisors
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional and clinical perspective at all times, with the ability to not internalize or personalize student behaviors or mannerisms.
  • Demonstrated experience using physical ability and dexterity to safely and effectively use Crisis Management Interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds).
  • PCMA Certification a plus.
Compensation

$19 - $25 / hour
