Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at TX-STAR Speech Language Services. As a key member of our special education staff, you will be responsible for providing top-notch speech and language therapy services to students ranging from preschool through high school.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support students' communication needs, thereby facilitating their full participation in educational programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders, employing a variety of diagnostic tools and practices to accurately identify student needs.
  • IEP Development: Develop, implement, and adjust Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or 504 Plans for students with speech and language impairments, ensuring that goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.
  • Therapy and Intervention: Provide direct therapy in school settings, utilizing evidence-based practices to address speech, language, voice, fluency, and other related disorders, engaging students in activities and exercises designed to mitigate their impairments.
  • Collaboration and Consultation: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to implement comprehensive support strategies for students, providing guidance and training to school staff and families to support speech and language development.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and confidential records of evaluations, therapy sessions, and progress reports, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as professional ethical standards.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree: In Speech-Language Pathology or Communicative Disorders.
  • Certification: Valid Texas license in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP), Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a school setting or with pediatric populations is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of federal and state special education laws, excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills, ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other school staff as well as parents of students.
