Actively pursuing opportunities for continuous improvement in their role and enhancing the performance of the transportation division.


The Transportation Operations Manager will oversee the daily functions of company drivers, Owner Operators, dedicated carriers, common carriers, and the dispatch team, while also developing the daily shipping schedule across multiple USALCO facilities.

The candidate must exhibit professionalism and possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills essential for leading, motivating, and fostering trust among team members.

Furthermore, the individual should be a collaborative team player who thrives in a cooperative environment to effectively manage the daily transportation operations.

Lastly, the candidate will be an innovative and entrepreneurial thinker who encourages and inspires similar thinking in others.

This individual must be both personally and professionally driven to work constructively with colleagues at all levels within the organization, execute responsibilities with urgency, and support plant and business objectives. Safety, Quality, and Productivity are of utmost importance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhere to all company policies and objectives in a safe and respectful manner.

Aim to enhance the driver-to-dispatch and customer service experience continuously.

Oversee the daily operations of the dispatch team and all company drivers, Owner Operators, and external carriers.
This includes conducting annual reviews and evaluations.

Facilitate routine performance review meetings.

Enforce company policies and procedures.

Coordinate and establish daily dispatch routes for all drivers.

Adjust dispatching during shifts to accommodate evolving customer delivery needs.

Process scanned Bills of Lading from drivers.

Provide coaching to drivers on the safe loading and unloading of trailers.

Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation regulations affecting our drivers.

Understand the chemical products manufactured by USALCO.

Monitor electronic logging and assist with troubleshooting driver errors.

Conduct equipment checks on trailers in the yard.

Collaborate with manufacturing departments to ensure sufficient inventory of materials for daily shipping requirements.

Perform monthly inventory counts as necessary.

Be available for overtime, off-shift, and weekend work as required.

Execute additional duties as assigned in support of business goals and objectives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Possess organizational and planning skills to effectively complete tasks.

Must be reliable, adaptable, and able to respond promptly to meet customer needs.

Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with others, both verbally and in writing.

EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 8 to 10 years of prior experience in dispatch management.

Direct experience in managing remote dispatch teams.


Ensure dispatchers fulfill their daily responsibilities, including efficient response times, optimal job order assignments, tracking couriers, follow-ups, and maintaining consistent communication.

Preferred experience in chemical field dispatching.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Experience with Paper Save, FRQ, Great Plains, and Samsara is preferred.

EDUCATION:


A four-year degree in Business Administration or Logistics Management is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and 8 years of experience.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Ability to:
Spend 80 to 90% of the shift seated.

Be flexible with work hours to meet transportation demands.

Travel will be less than 30%.
