Staff Nurse I

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse I to join our team at the University of Illinois Chicago's Craniofacial Center. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional patient care, collaborate with healthcare professionals, and contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality patient care, utilizing the Nursing Process and Relationship-Based Care model as the framework.
- Develop, implement, and update patient care plans based on ongoing assessment and input from patients and families.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to promote effective patient care, share information, and provide support.
- Verify and implement orders from physicians, physician assistants, and advanced practice nurses, documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Engage patients and families in education, recognizing symptoms, establishing priorities, and responding to changing needs.
- Delegate tasks to support personnel, providing feedback and support as needed.
- Participate in organizational, departmental, and shared leadership activities, supporting department and unit goals.
- Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
- Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit-specific certifications.
- Effective communication skills, facilitating therapeutic relationships between patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Intermediate computer skills, with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training.
- Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills, and work history.
- Preferred bilingual Spanish speaking.
- Preferred 2 or more years of experience working with pediatric populations.
- Preferred 2 or more years of experience working in ambulatory care settings.
- Preferred experience with craniofacial conditions.
- Preferred one or more years of experience working with surgeons.
