Role Summary:
SC Services is looking for a qualified and experienced Hazardous Material Removal Supervisor. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and effective removal of hazardous substances from buildings designated for demolition. This position requires both hands-on involvement and supervisory responsibilities, ensuring active engagement in removal tasks. The Supervisor will lead a team of workers, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and maintaining high standards of quality. You will conduct site evaluations, ensure compliance with safety standards, and provide training to staff on proper removal techniques. Strong leadership abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and expertise in demolition and removal practices are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in removal tasks while supervising and directing the team to achieve project objectives.
- Organize and coordinate daily work schedules, including the setup and dismantling of job sites.
- Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform site assessments to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
- Operate and maintain removal equipment and tools.
- Keep accurate records of project developments, including labor hours and material usage.
- Educate and mentor team members on safety measures and operational procedures.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure the proper disposal of hazardous materials.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in hazardous material removal and demolition, with significant responsibility.
- Proven leadership skills with the capability to effectively guide and motivate a team.
- Strong management abilities, including multitasking, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines.
- Comprehensive knowledge of removal techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Demonstrated history of ensuring compliance with safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA standards.
- Current Michigan State Asbestos Abatement Certification is mandatory.
- HAZWOPER and Lead Training Certification (or willingness to obtain) is required.
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification is necessary.
- Confined Space Entry Certification is preferred.
- Experience operating skid steers, aerial lifts, and scissor lifts is advantageous.
- Must possess reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift over 35 pounds regularly and safely.
- Capability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around heavy machinery.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products and Gmail.
