We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the City of Hampton, VA. As a key member of our Public Works department, you will be responsible for performing complex traffic maintenance tasks, leading a crew in the field, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic.
Key Responsibilities- Perform highly skilled traffic maintenance tasks, including traffic sign and marking installation, and equipment operation.
- Lead a crew in the field, providing guidance and oversight to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including the MUTCD Manual and the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual.
- Develop and implement plans to improve traffic flow and safety in the City of Hampton.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to achieve shared goals and objectives.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Considerable experience in traffic operations, including thermo-plastic pavement markings and equipment operation.
- Strong working knowledge of the MUTCD Manual and the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual.
- Ability to obtain IMSA Signs and Marking certification within one year of hire.
- Ability to obtain VDOT-approved Work Zone training certification within six months of employment.
- Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B within 180 days of employment.
