Job Title: Electrical Maintenance Specialist

U.S. Facilities is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As an Electrical Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, installation, and repair of electrical/mechanical and digital tunnel and bridge systems equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repairing electrical components up to 480 VAC 3 phase systems.
  • Maintain electrical wiring systems and components in accordance with the National Electrical Code and Industry Standards.
  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to diagnose electrical problems or failures.
  • Thoroughly inspect electrical systems and their components to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs, and recommend preventive maintenance actions.
  • Operate and use required tools and equipment skillfully and safely, assemble, install, maintain, and repair electrical apparatuses, and make rough sketches.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, isolate, and repair electrical malfunctions using various test instruments.
  • Maintain, test, and repair electrical equipment for safety and efficiency, plan the layout and wiring of new or existing installations.
  • Fabricate electrical parts, inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements, and compliance with applicable exterior and interior safety codes and regulations.
  • Inspect related work performed by contractors, estimate cost, time, and materials for electrical projects, and participate in the maintenance and operations of an electrical shop.
  • Clean, maintain, and service tools and equipment used in the performance of duties.
  • Experience utilizing electrical schematics, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical load centers and distribution systems.
  • Analyze electrical plant operational characteristics and make recommendations to correct deficiencies and respond safely and appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Experienced in and/or knowledgeable of traffic monitoring and control systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate and perform work in a bucket truck.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or demonstrated equivalent.
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician.
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License.
  • Flexible schedule (relates to a 24/7/365 operating environment).
Work Conditions:
  • 90-day probation period.
  • VDOT industry training.
  • Significant all-season/all-hour operating conditions.
  • May be subject to short or no-notice work assignments.
  • Work is primarily outside along interstate highways requiring necessary safety precautions involved in working with electricity in and alongside traffic.
  • Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment subject to short or no-notice work assignments and exposure to inclement weather.
  • Work environment is informal, both team and autonomy oriented, having routine tasks with variable pace and pressure.
  • Weekend, evening, and overtime work may be required.
  • Standing for prolonged periods of time, walking, lifting, carrying; frequently reaching, kneeling, climbing, bending, twisting, crouching, and balancing can be expected.
  • Monitored performance with routine evaluation.
Compensation:
  • $25.00/hourly.

This position is designed as essential and, as such, all duties associated with this job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response, and emergency operations. VDOT/Project Management will determine when essential positions are required.

A valid driver's license is required. DMV records check is required. Pre-employment drug screen is required. Fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check is required.
