The Staff Accountant is a key member of the Sonesta International Hotels team, responsible for performing daily accounting activities, processing general ledger journal entries, and preparing balance sheet and income statement accounts for a portfolio of limited service, extended stay, and select full service hotels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and post journal entries throughout the month, including accruals and adjustments, to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Prepare balance sheet reconciliation workpapers for review by senior staff accountants to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Assist senior staff accountants with the development of quarter-end, month-end, and year-end financial statements.
  • Financial Audits: Assist accounting supervisor, assistant controller, and senior staff accountants with financial audits and preparing appropriate audit work papers.
  • Financial Record-Keeping: Maintain records of the organization's financial activity in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards.
