Role Overview: As the Director of Nursing Development, your primary responsibility will be to oversee educational initiatives for the nursing department.

Qualifications:

  • A nursing degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • A current, unencumbered RN license in this state is mandatory.
  • CPR certification is essential.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Nursing Supervisor in a long-term care setting is necessary.
  • Experience in staff education for at least one (1) year is required.
  • Knowledge in supervision and teaching principles is expected.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure completion of general orientation for all staff members.
  • Conduct job-specific orientation for Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants.
  • Design and implement educational programs based on identified needs to enhance staff knowledge and skills.
  • Create and distribute annual and monthly educational calendars.
  • Maintain a library of resource materials and self-study programs for facility personnel.
  • Accurately and timely maintain staff development records.
  • Conduct C.N.A. training programs as required.
  • Foster effective communication and a positive work environment.
  • Promote positive relations with residents and their families.
  • Exhibit strong leadership capabilities.

Specific Requirements:

  • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the English language is required.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary is essential.
  • Must interact tactfully with staff, residents, families, visitors, and government personnel.
  • Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, as well as regulations pertaining to long-term care, is required.
  • Understanding of privacy regulations and the ability to train staff accordingly is necessary.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills, along with a collaborative spirit, are essential.
  • Capability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs and policies for quality care is expected.
  • Patience, tact, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm are vital, especially when dealing with challenging residents.
  • Willingness to explore and integrate new methods and principles into existing nursing practices is required.
  • Effective communication skills regarding emergency situations are necessary.
  • Accurate assessment skills to uphold nursing standards are essential.
