Position Overview:

This role serves as the Emergency Response professional within the Cardiac Testing Division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensures expertise with all cardiovascular diagnostic tools and protocols utilized at Trinity Health.
  • Reviews patient medical histories for relevant diagnoses and orders for procedures. Welcomes, informs, and prepares patients for testing in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Establishes intravenous access and administers necessary medications during various diagnostic evaluations.
  • Educates patients about the prescribed tests and prepares them adequately for the procedures.
  • Conducts tests following standardized protocols.
  • Informs and guides patients regarding the tests performed and subsequent follow-up care.
  • Observes and monitors patient conditions throughout the testing process.
  • Positions patients appropriately to facilitate the completion of examinations.
  • Assists in the transportation and mobility of patients as required.
  • Documents patient information accurately and comprehensively in the electronic health record and billing systems promptly.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of patient data.
  • Ensures equipment is well-maintained in designated testing areas.
  • Upholds a clean and organized workspace, ensuring exam rooms are adequately stocked.
  • Exhibits strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Takes ownership of responsibilities, actions, and attitudes.
  • Respects all patients, colleagues, clients, and healthcare professionals.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.
  • Collaborates with team members and leadership to foster a cohesive healthcare environment.
  • Acts as a mentor and resource for new staff members.
  • Engages in quality assurance activities as directed by the technical and medical leadership.
  • Complies with all relevant guidelines and safety protocols.
  • Completes required competencies within designated timeframes.
  • Participates in mandatory meetings and committees as needed.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development and maintains relevant certifications.
  • Operates necessary vehicles safely to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • May travel to various Trinity Health locations as necessary.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • May operate within the defined Scope of Practice.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
Prior experience or training in cardiac monitoring and patient assessment is preferred.

Licensure and Certifications:
Current Paramedic (PM) License or Critical Care Paramedic (CCP) License for the State of Iowa is required.
Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served is required within three months of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers must be obtained by the end of the orientation period.
ACLS certification is required within 30 days of hire, and PALS certification within 60 days of hire.
A valid Iowa Driver's/Chauffeur's License is necessary, meeting all motor vehicle safety standards.
Completion of an EKG course within one month of hire is required.
Completion of a Cardiac Arrhythmia course within three months of hire is necessary.
Completion of a stress testing competency program within three months of hire is required.
Advanced 12 Lead EKG course completion is necessary within one year of hire.
