Phlebotomy Specialist

As a Phlebotomist I at PathGroup, you will be responsible for performing daily phlebotomy activities in a professional and courteous manner. This includes interacting with clients, patients, and other PathGroup personnel, as well as collecting and processing specimens accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities- Greet customers and treat them with courtesy and respect.
- Collect specimens according to established procedures and explain the process to patients in a clear and courteous manner.
- Dispose of biohazardous materials and contaminated sharps in accordance with applicable laws and policies.
- Enter patient and specimen information into the computer system with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Communicate with clients to confirm orders and verify test information.
- Research test and client information using the lab computer system.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
- Pack specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature and protocols.
- Maintain daily records and logs, as well as assist with compilation of monthly statistics and data.
- Perform basic clerical duties, including filing, faxing, and preparing mail.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Phlebotomist Certification is preferred, especially in Louisiana.
- Prior job-related experience is preferred.
