About the Role

As a Virtual Patient Monitoring Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring patients in the PICU through telehealth technology, ensuring continuous surveillance of vital signs, medical devices, and alarms. You will conduct remote patient assessments, evaluate medical conditions, and promptly report changes to the onsite team. Effective communication with the onsite team, including physicians, nurses, and support staff, is crucial to coordinate care and provide updates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Remote Patient Monitoring: Monitor patients in the PICU through telehealth technology, ensuring continuous surveillance of vital signs, medical devices, and alarms.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct remote patient assessments, evaluate medical conditions, and promptly report changes to the onsite team.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with the onsite team, including physicians, nurses, and support staff, to coordinate care and provide updates.
  • Staff Support: Provide information and support to novice PICU staff, addressing their concerns and needs.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient information, assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic health record system.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to assist in emergencies, such as code blue or rapid response, by guiding onsite staff through necessary interventions.
  • Education: Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with pediatric critical care practices and telehealth technology.

Requirements
  • Associated degree in nursing required.
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required.
  • BLS CPR certification required.
  • RN work experience required.
