Ultrasound Technologist

Job Summary:
The Registered Ultrasound Technologist will apply medical ultrasound to patients in accordance with a doctor's order, working within the scope of practice defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and American Society Radiologic Technologists.
This position requires the ability to handle the movement, setup, and operation of medical ultrasound equipment, as well as handle all patients according to their individual needs.
The technologist will take direction from the Radiology Medical Director and understand patient assessment and treatment procedures as outlined by policy.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing high-quality ultrasound procedures under minimal supervision using diagnostic ultrasound imaging equipment.
- Documenting calibration procedures for individual imaging equipment.
- Coordinating, organizing, planning, and making quick decisions on emergent cases to maintain efficiency and maximize productivity.
- Assisting the Radiologist in performing invasive biopsy procedures using the Ultrasound system to pinpoint exact anatomical locations of diseased areas for specimen evaluation and diagnosis.
- Ensuring accurate charging and submission of procedures for correct billing.
- Ensuring the Ultrasound room is adequately supplied, checking equipment and computer status for readiness, and reporting any problems that could impact workflow.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasound Technology or equivalent required.
- Minimum 1-year scanning experience in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, and Breast Ultrasound preferred.
- ARDMS or ARRT/Sonography certification in Abdomen required within one year.
- LRST/ARRT Radiologic Technology License preferred.
- Certification in OB/GYN or Breast preferred.
- Current BLS (American Heart Association) required.
