Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Sonographer, OB/GYN to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for applying medical ultrasound to patients in accordance with doctor's orders and working within the scope of practice defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and American Society Radiologic Technologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply medical ultrasound to patients in accordance with doctor's orders
  • Work within the scope of practice defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography and American Society Radiologic Technologists
  • Handle the movement, set-up, and operation of medical ultrasound equipment
  • Document procedural information in patient medical records, including PACS
  • Perform high-quality ultrasound procedures under minimal supervision using diagnostic ultrasound imaging equipment
  • Document calibration procedures for individual imaging equipment
  • Assist radiologists in performing invasive biopsy procedures using ultrasound systems to pinpoint anatomical locations of diseased areas
  • Ensure accurate charging and billing of procedures
  • Maintain a clean and organized ultrasound room, checking equipment and computer status for readiness and reporting any issues
  • Perform tasks as assigned by immediate supervisors or managers, demonstrating competence in patient care responsibilities and adapting patient assessments to meet unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and developmental needs
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasound Technology or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-year scanning experience in Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, and Breast Ultrasound
  • ARDMS or ARRT/Sonography certification in Abdomen required within one year
  • Certification in OB/GYN or Breast preferred
