Role Summary:
The Accountant plays a crucial role in managing the financial functions of the facility. This encompasses the preparation of regular financial reports, upkeep of accounting records, implementation of internal controls, and budgeting strategies aimed at minimizing risks while enhancing the precision of the company’s financial disclosures. The Accountant will collaborate closely with the Plant Controller to provide insightful support and analysis that align with corporate objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the accounting department to ensure timely and accurate financial management reports, including internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, and budget preparations.
  • Manage the disbursement department to guarantee precise and prompt processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, employee expense reports, cash control, and compliance with corporate payroll tax regulations.
  • Oversee the accounts receivable department to ensure effective management of all aging components, including billings, cash applications, and year-end closing procedures.
  • Ensure the payroll systems are managed effectively for timely employee payments, benefits administration, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies, including Federal, State/Provincial, and Municipal tax obligations.
  • Establish and uphold systems and controls that verify the integrity of all processes and data, thereby enhancing the company's value.
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to the Plant Controller to support financial decision-making.
  • Engage in various special projects and compile detailed reports as required.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with colleagues, management, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Adhere to all regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Safeguard company assets and ensure accurate recording of all transactions through robust internal audits and controls.
  • Manage the perpetual inventory system, ensuring accurate cost accounting for all inventory items.
  • Align financial plans with organizational goals.
  • Offer financial analysis tools to assess company ventures, special projects, capital expenditures, and product costing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Community College diploma in a related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years of progressive responsibility in a manufacturing setting.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) credentials are preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in database applications and administrative systems, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Highly motivated, service-oriented individual with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with proficient computer skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical capability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Manual dexterity required for using desktop computers and peripherals.
  • Overtime may be required.
