Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Assistant/Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Amery Hospital & Clinic. As a key member of our eye care team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and support to our ophthalmologists and optometrists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Room patients for eye exams, gathering accurate data and performing various tests, including visual acuity, color vision, and intraocular pressure measurements.
  • Assist with minor surgeries, scheduling, and pre- and post-operative appointments.
  • Triage patients, respond to phone and inbox messages, and communicate test results to patients.
  • Work collaboratively with the eye care team to ensure seamless patient care.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in an eye care setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with computers and keyboarding.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal optometric assistant training from an accredited technical/vocational school.
  • Ophthalmic assistant certification by Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCHAPO) or paraoptometric assistant certification by the American Optometric Association (AOA).
  • Experience with EPIC computer system.
